Two festive-sounding snack bags you might have tucked away for holiday nibbling have been pulled from store shelves and kitchen cupboards nationwide after the manufacturer discovered they may contain undeclared allergens.

Silvestri Sweets has voluntarily expanded a recall of two 5-ounce Choceur-branded holiday barks sold at Aldi stores across the U.S. The company and regulators say the problem stems from a packaging mix-up during production that may have left pecans or wheat unlisted on some packages — a dangerous oversight for people with allergies.

What was recalled

The recall covers:

  • Choceur Cookie Butter Holiday Bark (5-ounce pouch) — affected lot numbers: 29225, 28525, 29925 (Best By May 2026) and 30625 (Best By June 2026).
  • Choceur Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark (5-ounce pouch) — affected lot numbers: 29225, 28525, 29925 (Best By August 2026) and 30625 (Best By September 2026).

According to the recall notice, some Pecan, Cranberry & Cinnamon Holiday Bark ended up packaged in Cookie Butter Holiday Bark bags, meaning pecans — and in some cases wheat — were not declared on the label. The Food and Drug Administration warns that consuming these products could cause serious or life-threatening allergic reactions in people with nut or wheat allergies. No illnesses have been reported so far.

Why this matters — and what to do if you bought it

Allergen mislabeling is a common trigger for recalls because it puts vulnerable consumers at immediate risk. If you or someone in your household has a tree-nut or wheat allergy, check your pantry now. If you find a recalled bag, discard it or return it to the store for a refund.

If you aren’t sure whether you have any of the affected lot numbers or Best By dates, contact Aldi customer service or Silvestri Sweets for guidance. Anyone who believes they experienced an allergic reaction after eating the product should seek medical attention promptly.

This recall is a reminder to give packaging a glance even on impulse buys — especially around the holidays, when stores are jammed and shoppers are juggling multiple items. If you’re hunting for gifts and deals this season, remember to inspect labels carefully while you shop during early Black Friday deals or when grabbing tech bargains among the Black Friday tech deals.

Silvestri Sweets cited a temporary breakdown in its production and packaging process as the apparent cause. Retailers including Aldi have been asked to remove the affected lots from shelves.

If you need more details, check your Aldi receipt against the lot numbers listed above and reach out to the store if you have questions. For allergy concerns or emergency care, consult a medical professional.
