Looking for something to fill a chilly weekend? From Feb. 5–8, 2K is handing Xbox Game Pass members a short-term passport to six of its titles — from hardwood showdowns to brick-built racetracks.

This Free Play Days lineup is open to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Premium and Essential subscribers. The games available to download and play for free are NBA 2K26, PGA TOUR 2K25, Risk of Rain 2, Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, LEGO® 2K Drive, and TopSpin 2K25. Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is playable on both console and PC, while the rest are available on compatible Xbox platforms (check individual store pages for platform specifics).

How to jump in

Fire up your browser and visit the Xbox.com game pages to begin — clicking a title will send you to the Microsoft Store where, if you’re signed into your Game Pass account, you’ll see an option to install the trial. On console, head to the Xbox Store’s Subscriptions tab and look for the Free Play Days collection to download directly.

Everything you earn during the weekend — Gamerscore, achievements, progress — sticks around if you decide to buy the full versions after the event.

Which games are on offer (and some sale prices)

  • NBA 2K26 — the headline act, useful warm-up ahead of NBA All‑Star Weekend. The Standard Edition is reduced in the store (Xbox lists it at about $23.09 during the promotion, down from $69.99).
  • PGA TOUR 2K25 — a refreshed golf sim with deeper systems and new modes; Xbox is running a 60% discount on the standard edition through Feb. 19 (roughly $27.99 from $69.99).
  • Risk of Rain 2 — cooperative roguelike action, on sale for roughly $6.24.
  • Sid Meier’s Civilization VI — turn-based empire building, often praised as a genre staple; listed for around $5.99.
  • LEGO 2K Drive — an open-world LEGO racer and builder, available at a discounted rate near $11.99.
  • TopSpin 2K25 — the revived tennis series’ modern entry; prices vary by region and edition.

(Discount availability, exact percentages and prices may differ by region; check the Microsoft Store for your locale.)

Free Play Days events are a steady part of Xbox’s calendar — they’re a low-risk way to sample big-budget releases and long-tail favorites alike. If you’re the kind of player who follows Game Pass additions and day-one drops closely, this kind of promotion feels familiar; Microsoft has used similar takeovers to spotlight publishers and special events in the past, including themed lineups and day-one Game Pass entries like Black Ops 7 joining Game Pass in November.

If you love a good sale as much as a free trial, these weekend demos often come with follow-up discounts — a pattern reminiscent of seasonal sales that push people from trial to purchase (and yes, there’s always a pile of deals floating around big shopping windows like the early Black Friday sales).

Whether you want to sweat through a MyCareer season in NBA 2K26, test your short game at the WM Phoenix Open in PGA TOUR 2K25, or try a couple of cooperative runs on Risk of Rain 2, the weekend gives you a clean window to decide. No subscription? These trials require Game Pass — so if you’re on the fence, now’s the time to consider whether a short trial or a month of Game Pass makes sense for your schedule.

Pick a mood, pick a game, and see which one sticks.
